A Growing Tradition

City of Palm Desert Attorney A Growing Tradition 03/31/10 Palm Desert hosts its annual Arbor Day Celebration on Saturday, April 24, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Palm Desert Visitor Center, with fun-filled activities and educational events designed to inspire people of all ages with a love of trees and everything green. The excitement kicks off at 9:15 a.m. with a tree planting ceremony followed by garden tours, planting demonstrations, live music, and a challenging scavenger hunt with a drawing for prizes. Aspiring green thumbs can observe a pruning demonstration showcasing techniques to help trees grow properly. Participants will also learn about water wise gardening and tree varieties that will flourish in the desert. The first 100 children who attend will receive a free coloring book. Earlier in the week on Earth Day, April 22, the City will be helping second-graders from James Earl Carter Elementary School plant a tree at the Palm Desert Soccer Park in honor of Arbor Day and Earth Day. The Palm Desert Attorney Visitor Center is located at 72-567 Highway 111. For more information about Arbor Day and how you can participate in this growing tradition, please call 760-346-0611.
