Renovated Mountain View Course Open For Play
City of Palm Desert Attorney Renovated Mountain View Course Open For Play 11/01/09 Award winning golf has never been better, until now, thanks to the recently completed renovation of Desert Willow Golf Resort's acclaimed Mountain View Course. Over the last six months, the Mountain View Course's greens were recontoured and replanted. Bunker complexes were reconstructed with new drainage, fresh sand, and challenging design changes. The course's original architects, Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry, conducted the more than $825,000 renovation, which included the expansion of some greens, restoration of lake edges, and upgrades to bunkers and desert waste areas to enhance their definition and aesthetics. The goal of the renovation was to improve the condition, playability, and appearance of the 6,913-yard course. http://attorney-in-palm-desert.com/ The project's obvious success is readily apparent throughout Mountain View's tees, fairways, and greens. Combined with Desert Willow's award winning Firecliff Course, the newly renovated Mountain View Course gives golfers a choice of two championship- courses and 36 holes of some of the most fun and breathtakingly beautiful golf available anywhere in the world.

A wide variety of organizations are participating including: the City of Palm Desert; Palm Springs Art Museum; The Living Desert's California Landscape Paintings: The Stephen B. Chase Collection; the Walter N. Marks Center for the Arts at the College of the Desert; The Historical Society of Palm Desert; Coachella Valley Watercolor Society; Desert Art Center Plein-Air painters of Palm Springs; Edenhurst Gallery; and the University of California, Riverside Palm Desert Graduate Center. Desertscapes will appeal to anyone who loves the dunes, palm oases, and surrounding mountains, painted by so many acclaimed artists over the decades. Today there is a renaissance of interest in desert plein-air paintings among collectors and scholars. Many of the genre's top painters, including Maynard Dixon, John Hilton, Jimmy Swinnerton, and stagecoach artist Marjorie Reed, either lived or exhibited in Palm Desert Attorney. Desertscapes' mission is to promote and educate the public about the historical and contemporary relationship between California landscape and plein-air painters within the Coachella Valley and its surrounding area. New Aquatic Center Coming Soon
City of Palm Desert Attorney New Aquatic Center Coming Soon 04/27/10
A magnificent addition to Civic Center Park, Palm Desert's new Aquatic Center should make a big splash with competitive and recreational swimmers when it debuts next year. The City Council recently approved the nearly eight-acre project, which will feature two pools, diving boards, slides, play features, shade structures, and a main building containing multiple changing rooms, offices, and a concession stand. A lighted, 50-meter by 25-yard competition pool equipped with three-meter and one-meter diving boards will be complimented by a family friendly 8,800-square-foot recreation pool featuring waterslides, play equipment, and a wade-in entry. The center's 7,000-square-foot desert contemporary-styled main building will house separate men's, women's, and family changing rooms, along with office space, a refreshment area, and a community multipurpose room. In keeping with Palm Desert's commitment to the environment, the structure will meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) specifications to ensure that it is sustainable and energy efficient. The complex will be located on the northeast corner of Civic Center Park with access from Magnesia Falls Drive. The Center's parking lot will be integrated into the City's existing date grove. Architects have proposed an attractive water feature at the building's entrance where workers could drain the pools and after residual chlorine had evaporated, use the water to irrigate the surrounding date palms. Construction is projected to cost just over $11.1 million with College of the Desert contributing $1 million and the Palm Desert Attorney Redevelopment Agency responsible for the remaining balance. In keeping with its mission as a "Contract City," Palm Desert Attorney will be requesting proposals from qualified contractors for the Aquatic Center's operation and maintenance. The selected operator will be responsible for recovering 60 percent of the facility's annual operating costs. This approach will negate the need for municipal staff to operate the Aquatic Center and ensure that the City recovers a significant portion of its operating costs, thereby protecting Palm Desert's General Fund. The Aquatic Center is expected to open in summer 2011. For more information, please call 760-346-0611.
